About the role

Aldenham Foundation is a charitable Foundation, comprising three Independent Schools and two Nurseries, educating children from 2 to 18 years.  The Schools enjoy an excellent reputation for their academic, cultural and sporting achievements and for the quality of their pastoral care.  The Senior School was founded in 1597 and has remained on the same outstanding site ever since - surrounded by green fields, yet only 12 miles away from Marble Arch.

The Foundation is now recruiting a Director of Development to lead a small forward thinking Fundraising and Alumni Relations team and build upon an initial programme of philanthropic giving.  The successful applicant will work closely with key individuals across the Foundation, including the Head of Foundation, School Heads, Commercial Director and Marketing Team.

This is an exciting time to join the Foundation and this role will be pivotal to supporting the Head and the Governing Body who have ambitious plans for the Foundation.  The successful applicant will be instrumental in contributing towards these plans.  Reporting directly to the Head of Foundation, and with a dotted line to the Foundation Bursar, the Director of Development will be responsible for the creation, development and implementation of an ambitious and innovative Development and Alumni Relations strategy.

The Foundation is committed to the continuation and growth of its Bursary programme and the Director of Development will have a focus on major gifts to support this programme, but will additionally fundraise for a range of capital projects.  The successful candidate will bring extensive, varies and demonstrable experience of substantial face-to-face major gift fundraising.  However, it is crucial that they also have extensive experience in developing key relationships across multi-strand communities and working with senior leaders to build and develop a culture of philanthropy and a programme of strategic donor support.  The Development Office has a sizeable database of Foundation constituents with some identified prospects, and this position holds endless opportunity and potential for the successful candidate to identify and grow the prospect pool, solicit major gifts, and demonstrate significant impact.

We welcome applications from individuals from both within and outside of the education sector, however it is essential that the successful applicant has a thorough understanding of the unique nature of the Independent School sector.

The position is a permanent, full-time role with an excellent salary and benefits package which includes a generous school fee discount.  The Foundation is flexible in its approach to hybrid working to reflect the nature of the role.

Regular travel and some evening and weekend work will be expected, and a flexible attitude is required to meet the demands of the position.  We are an equal opportunities employer, committed to diversity and inclusion with a policy of treating all employees and job applicants equally.
