Insights Discovery

What is Insights Discovery?

Insights Discovery is a psychometric tool based on the psychology of Carl Jung.  Using a simple 4-colour model, it can help us to understand an individual’s style and preferences, which can bring about more respectful, productive and positive working relationships, even across virtual boundaries.

What are Colour Energies?

Someone’s unique mix of energies determines how and why they think and behave in the way they do.  Everyone has all four colour energies and their profile shows their preference and how easy they may find it to access each energy.

What does the energy preference show me?

Fiery Red – aka “Be Brief, Be Bright, Be Gone”

An extroverted energy with a task focus. People with a preference for Fiery Red energy are action oriented and always in motion.  They often adopt a direct, authoritative manner, ensure that there is a focus on results at all times and seek to achieve specific goals in the most efficient, effective and competent fashion.

Sunshine Yellow – aka “Involve Me”

Sunshine Yellow is an extroverted energy with a people focus. This is the most expressive of all the colour energies.  Those with a Sunshine Yellow preference thrive on involvement, generating new ideas and exploring possibilities.  They approach others in a persuasive, democratic manner, radiating a desire for sociability.

Earth Green – aka “Show Me You Care”

Earth Green is an introverted energy with a people focus.  Those with an Earth Green preference focus on values and depth in relationships. They seek harmony and believe that effectiveness is achieved through high morale and respecting employee welfare. Someone with an Earth Green preference will seek to implement the objectives of the organisation in a way that respects everyone’s values.

Cool Blue – aka “Give Me Details”

Cool Blue is an introverted energy with a task focus. Those with a cool Blue preference are concerned with things being correct.  They will ensure that rules are followed and risks are minimised and achieve value through accuracy.  People with a Cool Blue preference seek to understand the world around them and value clarity and an analytical mindset.

Which is the best energy?

There is no good and bad energy as preference and skill are two different things. This model shows how people prefer to behave.

We use the term ‘bad day’ to demonstrate how an energy may be seen in a less positive way.  This may come out when

  • we react rather than consider how to act
  • we overuse a preference
  • others with a different preference see us a certain way
  • we feel frustrated about the behaviour of others

Why is this important?

Insights Discovery helps people understand themselves and their colleagues so that they can have more respectful, productive and positive working relationships, even across virtual boundaries.

  • Individuals understand their own and others’ communication preferences
  • They can connect better with their colleagues to improve collaboration
  • They have a common language to help them overcome challenges and conflict

Where is this useful in recruitment?

The value in using this tool for recruitment is as a means of understanding how the individual will fit into the existing team, how they may approach the job, or specific tasks in the job and what factors would contribute to creating an ideal environment for this person.

It is important to remember that your energy flow describes you, it does not define you.  Your colour energy order isn’t a static thing. Rather, it is fluid - in constant flux, there to be used to tackle any situation you find yourself in. Therefore, stereotyping and pigeonholing is reductive and inherently unhelpful.

What will schools get when accessing this product?
