Herts for Learning (HfL) has received a Commendation Award at this year’s Education Business Awards, held at the Grange Hotel, London, on 6th July, for their work in school staff recruitment.

The School Recruitment Award recognises ‘an educational establishment which has invested in its recruitment methods and processes to ensure a timely intake of appropriate teaching and support staff.’

Having won the School Recruitment Award in 2016, the HfL Recruitment Services team were delighted to have been among the five finalists, from across the UK, shortlisted for the award.

This year’s entry showcased how HfL has worked with local schools to develop both its annual Teach in Herts (TiH) Teacher Recruitment Fair and the launch of their new Enhanced Leadership Recruitment Service.

Speaking before the awards, Anne Taylor, Head of Recruitment Services at HfL, said:

Our Teacher Recruitment Fair is aimed at both those already studying on teacher training programmes and to encourage people to change careers and move into teaching, bringing their wealth of industry and management experience with them. This year’s event was so positive and the atmosphere for delegates, schools and workshops presenters was very uplifting and the feedback was excellent from everyone who took part. In addition, this year, we have developed a new leadership recruitment service which provides governors recruiting for new headteachers an opportunity to create a challenging assessment centre day with the guidance of our recruitment specialists, ensuring they recruit just the right person for their school."

Hertfordshire schools can advertise their current job vacancies through the Teach in Herts website, which also details the new Enhanced Leadership Recruitment Service that provides support and guidance to school governors looking to recruit a new headteacher or deputy headteacher for their school. This service has been specifically developed for Hertfordshire school settings and includes advertising pack creation, candidate shortlisting, preparation and support of a challenging assessment day of activities and questions based on the headteacher competency framework.
