About the role
Learning Support Assistant
The Thomas Coram Church of England School, Berkhamsted, Herts
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, energetic and caring Learning Support Assistant to support a child 1:1 within the class setting and some 1:1 interventions guided by our SENCO. Every day will be different and you will be able to make a huge difference. You need to be willing to work closely with the class teacher to adapt planning to suit the specific needs of the child. A calm, patient manner is essential, and experience of supporting children with Special Educational Needs and / or Disabilities (SEND) including ADHD/autism would be a distinct advantage.
The Thomas Coram CE School is part of the Castle Federation, with one of our partner infant schools, Victoria CE Infant and Nursery School. It is a friendly, supportive and welcoming 4 form entry junior school. In February 2018, OFSTED stated that the school ‘continues to be Good’ - 'Pupils are carefully nurtured from the moment they start. They behave very well and work hard'. The Statutory Inspection of Anglian and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) Report found that ‘The ethos of welcome and inclusivity is profound within what pupils describe as the Thomas Coram family.’
Our school is committed to safeguarding and the welfare of children and expects staff and volunteers to share our commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
This is a fixed term post whilst the child remains in the school. The post is for 17 hours per week Mon-Fri term time only, H2 salary. £18,562.00 - £19,312.00 pro rata, with an outer fringe allowance payment and company pension.
