About the role

St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN teaching assistant to join our thriving faith-filled school community in which every child is valued as a unique individual with infinite potential.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational and flexible full-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly hardworking team who has experience of working with children that have a complex range of needs including Autism and Moderate Leaning Difficulties. The role will involve supporting and supervising a child with their education as well as overcoming barriers to learning. It will also involve supporting the teacher by managing pupil behaviour, monitoring pupil progress and maintaining pupil records.

The post would suit an experienced teaching assistant who has an excellent understanding of all aspects of Autism.

The successful candidate will:

· be a warm and caring individual, who truly puts the children first

· show initiative, commitment and a positive attitude as well as understanding, flexibility and patience

· have previous experience of supporting children within a foundation stage/KS1 setting

· be confident in observing, assessing and planning for children's individual needs and next steps

· work hard to ensure the children they support are fully included in every aspect of school life, using a range of supportive resources and interventions

· have a willingness to attend relevant training, Staff meetings, and Pupil Progress meetings

· have great organisational and communication skills and the ability to work closely with colleagues.
