Herts for Learning Ltd (HfL) is the largest not-for-profit schools company in the UK, with a mission to improve education for children, whatever their background. We are 80% owned by schools and provide much needed services to support school improvement and raise pupil achievement on a non-profit basis.

Governance is a specialist team within HfL providing a fully traded service of support, guidance and training for the governing bodies of Hertfordshire’s schools & academies, and beyond.  In particular, Governance provides services for: a) Helpdesk support and advice; b) governor training and development; c) clerking; d) Chairs service; e) external reviews and self-reviews.  In addition to these services, the Governance team provides statutory functions of maintained schools in Hertfordshire on behalf of the County Council.

Reporting directly to the Head of Governance, the Clerking Officer will manage the clerking service and a remote team of 70 plus clerks.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to join an established team and make this new role their own.

Herts for Learning offers a range of benefits including:

  • Generous 28 day holiday entitlement on top of bank holidays
  • Performance related bonus
  • Excellent company pension scheme with 10% employer contribution and life insurance service benefits
  • Flexible working – over a quarter of our people work flexibly, including in senior roles
