About the role

We are looking to recruit a Front Office/Admin Assistant who is looking to develop their skills and enjoys the idea of working in a SEN school setting.  The working pattern for this role is 37 hours per week 8.30am to 4.30pm.  The successful candidate will be a valuable part of a dedicated team.  The ideal candidate will have strong Microsoft office skills e.g. Word, Excel and Powerpoint and be willing to learn new systems.  Previous experience of working within a school office environment or Local Authority is desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate

The successful candidate will be responsible for the School’s day to day data and administration e.g.: update of student information in SIMs, managing the school diary.  The ability to work as part of a team is essential.

This is a permanent, term time only plus 1 week position and will be regularly evaluated and supported via our staff appraisal and performance procedures.

JOB CONTEXT:

Batchwood School is a special needs mixed secondary school for students in years 7 to 11 with Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) as well as some of our students having a range of cognitive and learning difficulties.  The current number of student roll is 95, organised into 13 classes of approximately 7-8 students supported by a teaching assistant.  We are a ‘kind’ school and place emphasis upon thinking and talking through problems, finding solutions and being part of a whole community.  We passionately believe that the students are at the heart of the school and that the staff are here to meet the individual needs of all the students.  There is a strong ethos in helping the students manage their own behaviour.  See more of who we are and what we do in our School Overview at: http://www.batchwood.herts.sch.uk Visits are welcome if you would like to arrange please contact the school 01727 868021.
