About the role
Calling all exceptional Phonics teachers who are hungry for a leadership opportunity…
Since January, we invested our school-led tutoring funding in a Phonics Leader who worked with small groups of children to fill the gaps in phonics learning that were unavoidably created through the past two years of disrupted education. The impact was incredible and accelerated both the confidence and skills of our children, so much so that we have decided to make the position permanent. Sadly, our Phonics Leader is unable to continue with us next year and we are looking for a highly skilled phonics teacher who is able to join us in September 2022 (although we will wait for the right candidate if they cannot join us until January 2023).
We are looking for a Phonics Leader who will not only continue to lead these small groups of children but will also be confident and able to lead all Phonics provision in our school. This will include: supporting teachers and LSAs to deliver exceptional phonics teaching; monitoring the progress that individual children make; supporting the implementation of our new phonics scheme (please see the Phonics Leader Job Description for more details). You do not need to be an experienced leader to apply for this position but you do need to be an exceptional teacher of phonics.
In return, we will provide:
A strong, supportive and approachable leadership team
High quality CPD to ensure you can work effectively
Time to lead
A strong culture of inclusion and equality
We are offering this position for 3 - 5 days a week and are happy to negotiate to secure the very best candidate.
We are committed to safeguarding and protecting our children and young people.. All posts are subject to a safer recruitment process which includes enhanced criminal records and barring checks, scrutiny of employment history, robust referencing and other vetting checks. Our safeguarding system is underpinned by a range of policies and procedures which encourage and promote safe working practice across the school. On joining you will be required to undergo continuous professional development to maintain safe working practice and to safeguard our children and young people.
We would strongly encourage you to come and visit us if you are interested in working in the Leavesden Team.
