About the role

School Family Worker 22.5 hours a week (negotiable)

The schools in Stevenage work together in the Stevenage Educational Trust (SET) to support schools, families and children.  The post holder will join our team of SFWs who work across the town in our widely respected team.   Each SFW has their own schools to work with and the team also runs town-wide sessions for staff and parents.

The key roles of the post are to:

  1. Provide targeted support for children and young people and their families with unmet needs.  This can include working with families, providing intervention programmes, transitional support, targeted support, facilitating workshops and courses, etc.
  2. Supporting schools in Families First assessments and acting as a parent advocate in meetings.
  3. Liaising with schools pastoral and other support mechanisms and other agencies who work with children and families.

We seek someone who is flexible and enthusiastic, willing to learn and able to work individually and as part of a team.

We seek applications from people with previous experience of such a role and or those who have the personal skills and a willingness to train and develop new skills. Ongoing training is provided. The applicant must be able to drive and have access to a car.
