About the role
Our children have bucketfuls of awesome ideas... and one of them is looking for a special sidekick to help him channel his super-powers!
We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support a child in Reception. He has a diagnosis of autism and has support for social skills, speech, language and communication needs. The post is for 25 hours per week.
Due to the nature of funding, posts are offered on a fixed-term basis. However, our school is growing and moving forward and there may be future posts available. You will be expected to support and work with children across the primary range, although your main focus will be in the Early Years.
Although not necessary, experience of working with children with special educational needs (especially autism and/or speech, language and communication) would be a significant advantage. We will provide necessary training and you will be closely supported by our lovely Inclusion Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and progressive school that is working hard to move practice forward. You will need to bring enthusiasm, hard work and determination and we will return to you a supportive environment, kind children, an in-training school therapy dog*... and the odd bit of cake!
*He's a 12-month-old silver labrador called Murphy
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed, please contact Katy Alexander, Head of Inclusion, to arrange a visit.
Longmeadow is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and there will be a need for the successful applicant to be DBS checked.
We are absolutely determined to find the perfect person for this post. As such, the SLT and Governing Board reserve the right to take up references and conduct interviews before the closing date.
