About the role
Teacher of Geography
Required for September 2017. Pay Scale: MPS (London fringe), reasonable relocation expenses.
The John Warner School is a highly successful, oversubscribed and forward thinking school. It is also a thriving and stimulating place to work. In the past 5 years we have expanded our site to include 4 new buildings, each with outstanding ICT facilities. In September 2017 the Humanities Faculty will move into a further new building with first class facilities. The school enjoys an excellent reputation and sees the quality of its staff as a key strength.
We are looking for an inspirational teacher of geography to join a highly successful and forward thinking department. Geography is a very popular option at GCSE and A Level, attracting large numbers of students. More than 200 students are currently studying geography in Years 10 and 11 with the numbers expected to be even greater for the next academic year. Beyond academic credentials, we firmly believe in the value of a rounded education, providing students with the opportunity to develop their resilience and confidence skills. As such, we pride ourselves on our extracurricular programme. The department offers an extensive range of visits from day trips to nearby coastlines to further afield A Level trips to Italy and Iceland. The post represents an exciting opportunity, with the new GCSE and A level courses evolving in their first years.
The post is suitable for a geography teacher who has the capabilities to teach at all Key Stages and is keen to employ innovative teaching strategies in the classroom. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate outstanding teacher qualities and be willing to work as a team. They will be required to inspire our students to enjoy geography and engage in the subject both inside and outside the classroom.
