About the role
We are looking for a temporary full time Caretaker to join our friendly, caring and hard-working team. The new Caretaker will help to maintain a safe, clean and attractive indoor and outdoor school environment. We are looking for a reliable, honest dedicated person who will be responsible for opening and closing the school each day. Other responsibilities include some cleaning and working with the Headteacher to ensure that all health and safety requirements are met.
A flexible approach, good literacy and numeracy skills, good practical skills including completing DIY tasks and decorative skills are essential. The successful applicant will need to show initiative and be pro-active.
A qualification in a particular trade i.e. plumbing, carpentry etc. would be ideal however, proven experience of general maintenance skills would be sufficient
The candidate would be expected to attend training courses relevant to the role, i.e. health and safety for caretakers, asbestos training, working at height, Level 1 Safeguarding etc.
The post is 28.75 hours per week and operates on a split shift system, for example, 7.00am-9.15am and 2.30pm-6.00pm. These are guides and alternative hours could be negotiated. The successful applicant will be expected to work term time and school holidays. Annual leave is to be taken during school closure periods.
The flexibility to work at the weekend on occasion or additional hours and to cover lettings when necessary is essential.
