For non teaching roles we have developed a range of new products aimed at primary schools which will support senior leaders recruit and select the best talent, whilst reducing the risk of liability and enabling the school to defend any potential claims.

The recruitment and selection toolkit includes:
- A job evaluated job description
- A person specification
- An editable advert
- Selection shortlisting grid
- A selection of competency based interview questions
- A role appropriate assessment with accompanying scoring sheet
Toolkits can be downloaded from the HFL shop priced at £103.00 plus VAT.
More toolkits for other non-teaching roles will be available in the spring term 2017.
Leadership consultancy service
HFL recruitment Services provides recruitment solutions for Schools. We have a dedicated team of recruitment experts who can support you with your recruitment and selection needs. Depending on your senior leadership recruitment need we have different services available ranging from standard to an enhanced service.
The Standard Service includes:
- Support with advertising
- Guidance with application pack
- Assembly of application packs for the panel
- Liaison with the Hertfordshire improvement partner (HIP)
- Invite candidates for interview
- Send for references
- Notify candidates not short listed
- Send offer of appointment letter
The Enhanced Service covers all of the above plus:
- Initial consultation with the recruitment and selection panel (identifying key competencies, finalising the job advert, the job description and person spec, identifying the most effective advertising channels, advertising the vacancy)
- Response management
- Shortlisting with recruitment and selection panel
- Support with assessment and selection materials (we can arrange, at an additional cost, psychometric testing)
- Attending the assessment day
By using the HFL recruitment service you will have access to a dedicated recruitment team who have negotiated discounted rates with TES, the Guardian and job boards such as linkedIn and CV library. The negotiated rates are in addition to the cost of the standard and enhanced service. We will also manage your recruitment campaign via social media to maximise potential applicants.
The prices for the standard package start at £775 and £1,955 for the enhanced package.

Toni Argent, Senior HR Adviser heads up the HFL recruitment service. Toni is passionate about recruiting high quality people who can make a real difference to children’s lives. Toni helps guide schools through the recruitment and selection process striving for best practice in order to attract candidates from the widest possible pool creating a talented workforce. Toni comes with a broad range of recruitment experience gained from 10 plus years of working within various sectors and industries before joining Herts For Learning.
Tracy Williams, Company HR Officer, has recently qualified with the Institute of Recruiters (IOR). Tracy has a good understanding of the recruitment market, specialist recruitment techniques including social media, assessment methods, legal requirements and managing relationships within recruitment. Tracy aims to fully support your recruitment needs. Tracy has a real passion for recruitment and loves the concept of a blank piece of paper at the outset of the recruitment process, right through to seeing candidates start on day one, this gives Tracy great job satisfaction. Tracy’s mission is to recruit the right person, at the right time and at the right cost.
Sam Harpham, Recruitment Assistant is committed to providing customer service excellence at all times. Sam has worked within the Local Authority for a number of years in a variety of customer service/administration roles.
