Teaching school hubs

The teaching school hub programme was announced in 2019 as part of a comprehensive DfE strategy dedicated to supporting teachers throughout their teaching career. It forms part of the implementation of the recruitment and retention strategy to raise teacher quality and effectiveness.

The teaching school hub programme created a national network of 87 centres of excellence for teacher training and development, focused on some of the best schools and multi-academy trusts in the country. This programme replaced the previous network of teaching schools.

Teaching school hubs provide high-quality professional development to teachers at all stages of their careers and are expected to play a significant role in delivering:

The following Teaching School Hubs have been assigned to cover specific districts in Hertfordshire. Schools may choose to work with their local TSH where appropriate. However, schools are not limited to use their local TSH and you may also be able to work in a Herts school while accessing training with another provider.

The Chiltern Teaching School Hub: Broxbourne, East Hertfordshire, Luton, North Hertfordshire, Stevenage.

The Alban Teaching School Hub: Dacorum, Hertsmere, St Albans, Three Rivers, Watford, Welwyn Hatfield.

From September 2022, HFL Education is working in partnership with Chiltern Teaching School Hub to provide Appropriate Body induction services for Early Career Teachers.
