Description
Hammond Academy is a two-form entry primary school with classes from Nursery to Year 6. The school is built on a large site with plenty of space in which the children can work and play. We aim to be an inclusive school, where all are valued within an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, and we strive to make each child’s time with us purposeful, challenging and enjoyable.
We have implemented a range of strategies to develop our school including:
- A new ‘Hammond Learner’ strategy
- A review of our curriculum offer
- A new behaviour policy
- Improvement in the delivery of our early years curriculum
- A brand new library
- A new staffroom
- Improved systems for meeting needs of learners with SEND
- A consistent approach to our learning environment
Our staff team are committed to making a positive difference to our learners and we are exceptionally lucky to have a team who are skilled and knowledgeable. We all have the needs of our learners at the forefront of everything we do.
There is a strong leadership team in place. We have phase leaders, a SENco, an Assistant Principal for Inclusion, an Assistant Principal for Curriculum, and a Principal.
At Hammond, we believe that everyone in our community can Grow, Achieve and Believe. This is an infinite cycle: the more someone believes in themselves, the more they will grow in confidence and have the courage to take risks, resulting in them going on to learn and achieve. The more the person achieves, the more they will believe in themselves and so the cycle continues. In addition, we encourage our children to see making mistakes as something positive – we learn from our mistakes.
