Description

Knightsfield School a specialist academy for hearing impaired pupils and is located in purpose-built premises in Knightsfield, Welwyn Garden City. The school is conveniently placed for access to other towns in Hertfordshire, with good road and rail connections to London and other parts of the country. The majority of pupils have a severe or profound hearing loss. The school's policy is that pupils are taught by auditory/oral methods, this means that we do not use sign language. The school curriculum reflects the requirements of the National Curriculum with differentiation and approaches which address the special educational needs of hearing impaired pupils. The school has a successful and long standing inclusion programme with Monk's Walk Secondary School and Oaklands College. All integrating pupils are supported by staff from Knightsfield School. In December 2018 the school was inspected by Ofsted and was graded outstanding for the third time.
