Description
St Augustines is one of two Catholic Primary schools in Hoddesdon. We have a 60-place Nursery that feeds both schools and other local primary schools. We work closely with the Parish playgroup from which many of the children enter our Nursery. The schools population reflects the social diversity of the area. We have strong links with other Primary and Secondary schools and the local community, especially the Parish where we jointly celebrate Mass throughout the school year with the neighbouring Catholic school. Catholic values and teachings permeate school life. We have weekly assemblies in school and also class assemblies to which parents are invited. The Parish Priest has close ties with the school with weekly RE lessons with us. Every year the Infants and Foundation stage tell their version of the Christmas story whilst years 3 and 4 perform the Easter play in the Church. Years 5 and 6 show their artistic flair by producing something a little more contemporary. The Governors are justifiably proud of the pupils, who are well disciplined and smartly presented. The Ofsted inspector commented that the School Council was the best that she had spoken to and that they had excellent debating skills. We are also fortunate to have a strong working partnership with parents.
