Description

The Giles Nursery and Infants' School is in a pleasant residential area on the outskirts of Stevenage. the school has recently converted from two-form to three-form entry and it draws children from a range of socio-economic and multicultural backgrounds. The school also has a specialised Base catering for children with an EHC plan for Special Needs in Speech and Language.

This is a good school with outstanding features; the latest Hertfordshire Annual Review graded the school 'outstanding'. Our pupils enter with skills and aptitudes that are below that usually found and leave with attainment that is above average and sometimes well above.

The school is committed to the safety and protection of its pupils and staff.  Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount and the School expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Giles Nursery and Infants’ School is an equal opportunities employer.  We value the individuality of all members of our community and celebrate a culture of inclusion and diversity. We promote attitudes and values that challenge any discriminatory behaviour or prejudice and focus as a school on a set of shared values which help us to work with one another co-operatively and with respect. Our commitment to tackling discrimination through the positive promotion of equality applies to our work in the classroom, our pupil support systems, our work with the Governing Body, our recruitment and retention of staff and our work in and with our local community.

At The Giles Nursery and Infants’ School we are committed to equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers in line with the Equality Act of October 2010. As an employer we will not discriminate on age, disability, gender re-assignment, race, religion and belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership.  Nor will we accept discrimination, harassment or bullying in any form.
