Therfield First School

North Hertfordshire District

Therfield First is an Ofsted Outstanding school (March 2009). Our school is a first school, catering for children between the ages of 4 to 9 years. We currently have 51 children on roll. We have three classes for Reception, Year 1 and 2 and Years 3 and 4. We are part of the 3 tier system where children move at 9 into Middle school and then again at 13 into Upper school. We are a small nurturing village school where the children are at the heart of everything we do. We are modern and forward thinking whilst retaining traditional values. Our innovative and creative team work closely with our parents/carers, the local and the wider community. The size of the school is our strength and we place great emphasis on valuing and developing the whole child – spiritual, creative, academic, sporting and social talents of each individual are recognised, developed and celebrated. We have specialist P.E. and music teachers and teach through a topic based creative curriculum. Therfield is a beautiful village three miles from the market town of Royston. We have strong links with the village pre-school as well schools from both the Royston and small schools' networks.
