About the role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Additional Support Needs Assistant to join our dedicated SEND team from November 2026.

This is a term-time only position, 32.30 hours per week (8.30am–3.30pm), initially offered on a fixed-term contract for the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent.

Working under the direction of our SENDCO, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. You will work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, deliver targeted interventions and contribute to the day-to-day work of our SEND team. You will also provide SEND lunchtime support, helping pupils to develop their social, emotional and communication skills and ensuring they are well supported throughout the school day.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who are ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) trained, or who have experience of supporting children with their emotional wellbeing and developing their emotional literacy. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children to develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships alongside their academic progress.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience of working with children with SEND and/or additional needs.

• Has good literacy and numeracy skills.

• Is patient, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with children.

• Can work confidently both independently and as part of a wider team.

• Is enthusiastic, adaptable and willing to contribute positively to school life.

• Has high expectations for all pupils and is committed to helping children achieve their potential.

• Has experience of, or an interest in, supporting children's social and emotional development.

• ELSA training or experience would be particularly desirable.
