Deputy Headteacher & SENCo (Part Time)

Start Date: September 2025

A Little About Us

At Tenterfield, we believe childhood should be full of wonder, connection, and adventures.
We’re a friendly, nurturing Maintained Nursery School with a big heart, proud to be rated Outstanding, and known for creating a welcoming environment where every child is safe, seen, and celebrated.

We’re now looking for a kind, thoughtful, and experienced leader to join our team as Deputy Headteacher & SENCo. If you care deeply about inclusion, enjoy working closely with families, and believe learning happens best when children feel loved and understood — we’d love to hear from you.

This Role Might Be for You If You...

  • Are passionate about Early Years and know just how important these first five years really are

  • See the individual child behind every label, behaviour, or need

  • Want to lead with empathy — listening, guiding, and holding space for children and adults alike

  • Are calm under pressure and find joy in the little things — even when they come with muddy boots or paint-covered hands

  • Believe that teamwork, kindness, and relationships are at the heart of great leadership

As Our Deputy Head & SENCo, You Will:

  • Be a trusted member of our Senior Leadership Team, helping to shape our vision and support the whole staff team

  • Lead on SEND provision, making sure every child’s needs are met with care, dignity, and creativity

  • Support, mentor and guide our newly qualified SENCo

  • Step in when the Headteacher is away to ensure everything runs smoothly

  • Be a calm, supportive presence for children, families, and staff

  • Help create a space where everyone belongs and all children can shine

What We Can Offer You:

  • A warm, inclusive nursery with a caring, committed and highly experienced team

  • Children who will make you laugh, and ask the best questions

  • A beautiful, purpose-built setting designed for play and discovery

  • A leadership role that lets you make a difference while still staying close to the magic of the classroom

  • A supportive and down-to-earth Headteacher who values collaboration and wellbeing

What the Children Say They’d Like:

  • Someone who smiles and helps when things feel tricky

  • Knows how to play, but also how to listen

  • Will sit with them when they’re sad and be excited with them when they’ve learned something new

  • Loves stories, muddy adventures, and making tea in the home corner!
