About the role

💚 LOVE EARLY YEARS? COME AND GROW WITH US 💚

Early Years Educators – Hitchin
£21,500–£22,000 per year | Term-time only | 38 weeks | 37.5 hours per week

Do you love working with young children?

Are you looking for somewhere you can develop your skills, grow in confidence and take the next steps in your Early Years career?

We’re looking for two Early Years Educators to join our Early Bird team in Hitchin:

🐣 The Nest – working with our youngest children, aged 1–2
🐥 Fledglings – working with our children aged 2–4

We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy being with children – getting down on the floor to play, following their interests, noticing the little things and building the warm, secure relationships that help children thrive.

But we also want to invest in you.

🌱 Come and grow with us

Ideally, you’ll already hold a Level 3 Early Years qualification, but just as important to us is your attitude towards learning and development.

We want people who are curious, reflective and keen to keep growing.

Depending on your interests and ambitions, we can support further professional development and qualifications in areas such as:

• SEND
• Lead Practitioner qualifications
• Degree-level study
• Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT)
• Leadership and specialist areas of Early Years practice

Whether you love working directly with children and want to deepen your expertise, or you have ambitions to progress further in Early Years, we want to help you find your path.

What you’ll get from us

We know that working in Early Years is rewarding, but we also know how much you give to the children you care for. We want our team to feel supported too.

As part of Early Bird, you’ll have access to:

• Term-time only working – 38 weeks a year
• A paid wellbeing day each year after one year’s service
• Access to a confidential support line
• Coaching and opportunities to reflect on your own development and goals
• Ongoing professional development and training
• Support to work towards further qualifications
• Opportunities to develop your career and explore areas of Early Years that particularly interest you

🕣 A working pattern that can work for you

Our full time working pattern is:

8.00am–4.00pm
38 weeks of the year – term-time only

Annual salary for the full working pattern is approximately £22,000–£23,500, including holiday pay and staff meetings.

We’re also happy to talk about flexible options, including:

• Full-time Mon–Fri 8.30 - 4.00 (37.5 hrs per week) or 8.00 - 4.00 (40 hrs per week)
• Morning or afternoon job share 8.30 - 1.00 and 11.30 - 4.00 (22.5 hrs per week per role)
• A minimum of three full days per week (22.5 hrs per week)

Salary would be adjusted according to the agreed working pattern.

🐣 Could you be an Early Bird?

You don’t need to know everything already.

What matters to us is that you:

• genuinely love working with children
• want to make a difference to their everyday experiences
• enjoy being part of a team
• are open to reflecting on your practice
• want to learn, develop and try new things
• bring warmth, curiosity and enthusiasm to your work

We want Early Bird to be somewhere children and adults can grow.

So, if you're looking for more than just your next Early Years job, we'd love to hear from you.
