Job Title: Family Intervention Worker Starting Salary: £34,433 progressing to £37,280 pa Hours: 37.0 Location: Hatfield Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Childrens Services About the team Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and families? Join our dedicated team as a Family Intervention Worker, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting families to achieve lasting, positive change. The Intensive Family Support teams work with families with multiple and complex needs who would benefit from intensive tailored support. Working in the home and local community, they support families to prevent escalation of need and progression to statutory services. About the role In this dynamic role, you’ll manage a caseload of families, delivering both one-to-one and group-based interventions in collaboration with partner agencies across Hertfordshire. Your work will be guided by tailored support plans designed to help families achieve sustainable outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide direct, child-centred support to children and young people, while also empowering parents and carers. Offer practical, hands-on assistance to improve family wellbeing and resilience. Conduct home and school visits, building trusted relationships with families and professionals. Facilitate group sessions such as parenting programmes and domestic abuse support groups. Act as Lead Professional in coordinating and chairing Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings. Work closely with a wide range of agencies including schools, housing services, Citizens Advice, health professionals, and specialist teams within Hertfordshire County Council. About you Essential Experience working in a role delivering support to children, young people and their families. Excellent communication skills are a must, and the confidence to initiate and participate in difficult conversations is an important aspect of the role. Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with children, families and other professionals. Competence in using a variety of IT devices and software packages for producing reports and assessments. Full driving licence and regular access to a vehicle will be required. Desirable Experience of completing assessments would be beneficial. This job role is within the Health and Social Care Services, level HSC9 job profile.
