Broom Barns Primary School is seeking a compassionate and motivated Family Support Worker to join our dynamic team. You’ll work directly with families, children, and young people to deliver one-to-one support, parenting workshops, creative family sessions, group programmes and willing to work in classrooms when necessary.
The successful candidate will need to be reliable, punctual and will have the opportunity to work within an experienced, friendly and supportive team.
Applications are welcome from candidates who may have been working with children/families within a different setting. You may have particular skills and a passion for developing certain areas of support. If this is the case, this would be explored with you.
The post is for 27 hours 5 minutes per week (Monday to Friday 8.50am to 3.20pm) 43.6 weeks, term time only. The pay is H4 to H5 dependant on qualifications and experience (£13.05-£14.83 per hour). The salary quoted is the full time equivalent (FTE= 37 hours per week/52 weeks per year).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored family support on issues such as behaviour, attendance, communication, and relationships
- Facilitate group sessions, drop-ins, and parenting workshops
- Keep accurate records
- Build strong partnerships with staff, schools, local authorities, and other community organisations
- Act as one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) for the school, ensuring a safe, compliant, and responsive service
- Have a strong understanding of safeguarding frameworks
- Promote the values and visibility of Broom Barns in the local community
- Possess a commitment to equality, confidentiality, and data protection standards
- You’ll be an excellent communicator, a strong team player, and have a proactive, solution-focused approach.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths is desirable)
- Working with Parents: 1 year (required)
- Familiarity with early help processes, TAF, and Families First Assessments.
- Experience in family support is desirable, and a commitment to safeguarding and reflective practice is essential.
- an ability to communicate with parents, carers and class teachers.
