Batchwood School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Finance Manager to join our committed and friendly team. Batchwood School is a mixed SEMH secondary school where every student is known and valued as an individual. The current pupil roll is 106 students, organised into 11 classes of approximately 7 pupils. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the strategy and operational financial management of the school. They will advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows other members of the leadership team to focus on teaching and learning

The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and numerate, with good attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information. Experience of working in a school or education setting would be an advantage.

As a Finance Manager, you will:

  • Under the direction of the Headteacher, lead on all financial matters in school, to ensure the school's successful financial performance and to ensure financial decisions are clearly linked to the school's strategic goals
  • In partnership with the headteacher, manage the school budget and ensure it is balanced, realistic and represents an effective use of public funds
  • Submit the budget to the Governing Board
  • Forecast future years' budget, based on the school's estimated funding and trends in expenditure, to enable the Headteacher to make strategic , long term decisions
  • Monitor the budget all year round, advising the Headteacher where revisions are needed.
  • Comply with financial reporting requirements and submit statutory returns

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has financial management experience, ideally in a school but not essential or a Financial qualification
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Previous use of SIMS, Arbor Finance, Access Budget Software
  • Effective Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to acting with Integrity, honesty, loyalty and fairness to safeguard the assets and the financial reputation of the school.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively
