About the role

What does it mean to lead a school where every child is truly known? At Spellbrook Primary, this question is at the heart of our work. As a small Church of England school with four mixed-age classes, we place relationships, values, and community at the centre of everything we do.

You will be joining a school with a rich heritage and a clear sense of purpose. Our Christian ethos is lived daily—through collective worship, close ties with Great St. Mary’s Church, and a curriculum rooted in care and aspiration. Our extensive outdoor spaces, including woodland, meadow, and a MUGA, are integral to how we teach and learn.

You will be a supportive, visible leader who brings people together. You will champion staff development, uphold high expectations, and foster a culture of respect and inclusion. You will also benefit from being part of a strong network of local primary schools, working together to share expertise and improve outcomes for all children.

We can offer:

  • A dedicated and experienced staff team who value collaboration
  •  A supportive governing body and strong church-school links
  • Beautiful outdoor learning spaces that enrich the curriculum
  • High levels of pupil engagement and a culture of mutual respect
  • A warm, inclusive community where wellbeing is a shared priority
  • Access to professional development through local school partnerships

This role is about more than leadership—it is about community, continuity, and care. If you are ready to lead with purpose and help every child flourish in love and learning, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Please contact Sharon Freeborn, School Business Manager, on 01279 723204 or email sbm@spellbrook.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit to the school. For more information visit www.spellbrook.herts.sch.uk

Please apply on the Teach in Herts website, using the standard online application form. CVs will not be considered. Should you need support, please contact leadership.recruitment@hfleducation.org . Please note, late applications will not be considered.
