Ashwell Primary School is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and motivated Learning Support Assistants to join our dedicated team. This role focuses on supporting two key stage 2 pupils (1 x Year 4 and 1 x Year 6) by providing personalised educational and emotional support to help them reach their full potential.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and caring Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly support staff team. You will be working to support individual child/ren and deliver provision as outlined within an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This is initially with two children across Key Stage 2 but is subject to change over time. In addition to this, you will also support other children within the classroom as part of the class teaching team.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of supporting special educational needs within a school setting.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated staff team and play a key role in ensuring all pupils achieve the best possible outcomes. We are looking for someone who buys into an inclusive approach to teaching and learning. Experience of a therapeutic approach in supporting behaviour would be an advantage.

Having said the above, we are also willing to hear from candidates who lack experience but have an enthusiasm and interest in pursuing a career in this area. Full training and support would be provided.

Pay Scale: H3

We are looking to fulfil a role of 15 hours of support across 5 mornings per week (8:45 – 11:45am)

There is a strong possibility opportunity would arise for hours to increase or the opportunity for additional ad-hoc hours would arise. (Please note there is also often an opportunity to increase hours if people require by working with our Wrap Around Care Provider – Premier Education)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support tailored to children with diverse learning, communication, emotional, and sensory needs.

  • Implement personalised strategies from EHCPs and classroom plans to support learning and wellbeing.

  • Promote children’s social, emotional, and mental health through encouragement, scaffolding, and positive role-modelling.

  • Foster independence, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills in pupils.

  • Adapt teaching approaches dynamically within whole-class and small-group settings to meet individual needs.

  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
