About the role
This is a role for someone who can manage behaviour systems day-to-day, work directly with pupils who present challenging behaviour, and support staff and parents to maintain a calm, respectful learning environment. You will use data and targeted interventions to reduce disruptions, reintegrate pupils after suspension, and help vulnerable students (particularly those with SEND and on Pupil Premium) access mainstream learning successfully.
What you'll be doing
Lead the consistent application of the school Behaviour Policy and model high expectations in every interaction.
Coordinate the Behaviour Facilities curriculum, staffing and routines to ensure purposeful learning for pupils placed there.
Track, analyse and report behaviour data; identify trends and work with senior leaders to design targeted interventions.
Deliver one-to-one and small-group programmes: mentoring, restorative work, de-escalation support and bespoke behaviour plans.
Manage reintegration plans after suspension and support pupils to resume mainstream lessons successfully.
Support colleagues with behaviour strategies, provide practical coaching in the moment, and contribute to staff training to promote consistent practice.
Communicate regularly with parents and lead meetings to secure home–school cooperation on behaviour plans.
Develop links with external providers to broaden support options for pupils with specific needs.
What we're looking for
Essential
Experience working in a school setting (e.g. teaching assistant, pastoral role) with demonstrable impact on pupil behaviour.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust with pupils, families and colleagues.
Proven skills in de-escalation, conflict resolution and mentoring young people.
Ability to use data to identify trends and shape interventions.
Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and promoting equality of opportunity.
Desirable
Relevant behaviour/pastoral qualifications or training (e.g. Restorative Practice).
Previous experience coordinating alternative provision or a behaviour facility.
Formal safeguarding training.
