About the role
We are delighted to be able to advertise a rare and exciting job opportunity at a fantastic village school set in a beautiful part of rural Hertfordshire. Ashwell is an extremely friendly and welcoming school at the heart of a strong supportive village community.
Are you looking for that next step or a fresh challenge, working with our amazing children? Are you dedicated and committed to putting children’s learning and wellbeing at the forefront of everything you do whilst having fun?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and caring Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly support staff team. You will be working to support individual child/ren and deliver provision as outlined within an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Initially, this is likely to be with a Year 2 child but is subject to change and will be agreed following successful appointment. In addition to this, you will also support other children within the classroom as part of the class teaching team.
This post would suit someone with experience of supporting special educational needs in the Early Years or Key Stage 1, however we also encourage applications from people wishing to gain experience in this area, considering a career change or returning to work.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated staff team and play a key role in ensuring all pupils achieve the best possible outcomes. We are looking for someone who buys into an inclusive approach to teaching and learning. Experience of a therapeutic approach in supporting behaviour would be an advantage.
Having said the above, we are also willing to hear from candidates who lack experience but have an enthusiasm and interest in pursuing a career in this area. Full training and support would be provided.
Please note that this post is directly linked to the child being on roll at the school.
Pay Scale: H3
Initially 9-10 Hours per week (1.5 days to be agreed) – There is a strong possibility this would increase or the opportunity for additional hours would arise
(Please note there is also often an opportunity to increase hours if people require by working with our Wrap Around Care Provider – Premier Education)
Ashwell Primary School was last inspected by OFSTED in May 2022 when it was judged to be ‘Good’. As a school, we are passionate about our inclusive practice and supporting the wellbeing of our pupils. We believe strongly in respecting differences and valuing each other as individuals.
“Pupils are enthusiastic to participate in learning. As a result, they behave well in lessons. A nurturing and restorative approach to behaviour has been firmly embedded at the school. Because of this, pupils are able to self-regulate in unstructured times. They share and interact with each other with tolerance and respect. Pupils with SEND receive teaching and support that is adapted to meet their needs. As a result they are fully included in lessons.”
