Thomas Coram is a four-form entry junior school with its own wraparound care facility. It has a strong and nurturing Christian ethos and is a very happy place to learn and work. It is part of the Castle Federation, along with Victoria CE Infant School & Nursery.
Castle Federation comprises two Church of England schools in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire: Victoria Infant and Nursery School and The Thomas Coram School. The Castle Federation family was created because we believe our schools, pupils and staff gain many benefits from working together. We deliver, through partnership and collaboration, integrated and outstanding teaching and learning experiences for all children so they thrive and flourish in learning and love.
Castle CE Federation is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to rigorous pre-employment checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as well as other pre-appointment checks outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2026).
Victoria CE Infant and Nursery School has been on this site for over a hundred and twenty years, and together with our delightful pupils in two classes for each year group, we are looking forward enthusiastically to the future. Our Victorian buildings, with twentieth century additions, are situated in the pleasant market town of Berkhamsted only one minute's walk from the High Street and in a conservation area. There is a public meadow at the back which we can use and we have stimulating playgrounds which have been substantially improved by the parents' association. We are a voluntary aided school affiliated to the Church of England, and enjoy strong links with St Peter's Church. The schools Christian ethos permeates through all areas of school life. We work together to provide a positive and lively learning environment and we are proud of our committed and hardworking staff teams, supportive governors and energetic parents' association. Visitors are welcome!
Castle Church of England Federation was formed in April 2018 and brings together Victoria CE Infant and Nursery School and The Thomas Coram CE School. Each school retains their own unique identity but share the same vision. We have a very strong executive leadership team consisting of an Executive Headteacher and two Heads of School, supported by an engaged and talented governing body. Castle CE Federation is committed to safeguarding children and young people.
