About the role

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children who have additional needs.  The post also requires a high degree of resilience and flexibility.

The successful candidate will need to be able to develop good relationships with children and understand that all behaviour is communication. The role will involve providing learning support to help overcome barriers to learning, including behavioural, social, emotional, communication and sensory needs. You will need to be able to follow advice and apply strategies consistently. Our ideal candidate will be nurturing, energetic and passionate about inspiring and supporting children to develop and learn. They must be able to use their own initiative and demonstrate a calm, patient and kind approach.

The fixed term contract post requires cover for all day but we will consider splitting this cover into morning and afternoon posts:

  1. The first post will be from 8.30am until 12.00pm.
  2. The second post will be from 12.00pm until 3.15pm

We can be flexible on these hours if you would like to ring and talk to either Mrs Curry (Deputy Headteacher/SENDCo or Mrs Whitty, Headteacher).

Salary is dependent upon skills, qualifications and experience. Minimum H2 (Scale Point 2 1-3) £22,737 to £23,500 pro-rata.

We can offer you:

  • A forward thinking, prayerful community, rooted in the traditions of the Catholic church with strong links to the parish and the wider community;
  • An opportunity to take independent responsibility for an individual pupil’s learning and well-being
  • A strong sense of community and a commitment to local, national and international neighbours;
  • A diverse and supportive group of families, appreciative of teachers and committed to learning;
  • An inclusive ethos, valuing the unique individual and a diverse heritage;
  • A school wide commitment to ‘high challenge, low threat’ principles;
  • A welcoming school with children who have positive attitudes to their learning and care for each other;
  • The support and guidance of an excellent SENCO and a supportive senior leadership team;
  • Pupils who are recognised for their outstanding behaviour and personal development;
  • a friendly, caring and dedicated staff, committed to school improvement;
  • a pleasant working environment with high quality resources and well planned provision, working within a supportive and collaborative team
  • A financially secure, well maintained school.

Confirmed as a ‘good’ school by Ofsted in November 2023 and underpinned by a strong Catholic ethos, we are ambitious and are ready to walk with you on a journey that will take both you and our children to ‘the best that we can be.’  Could you join us on our journey and help our children to achieve their ambitions?

The Governors and staff of St Vincent de Paul Catholic School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. Each successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and other relevant checks following local and national protocols. References will be taken prior to interview and will be followed up rigorously.
