Level 3 Early Years Practitioner

About the role

Hunsdon Ducklings Pre-School is a well-established, charity-run pre-school situated in the heart of our friendly village community. Our main pre-school operates Monday to Friday, 9.00am–3.00pm during term time and we also run a Breakfast Club and After-School Club, providing wraparound care for children attending Ducklings and the local school.

We provide a fun, relaxed and stimulating environment for children aged 2 years 9 months to rising 4 years, where every child is encouraged to explore, have a go, try new experiences and develop their confidence and independence.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and caring Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join our small, dedicated and friendly team for three to four days, 9am - 3pm.

The role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will help provide high-quality care and education in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

While each practitioner has responsibility for their own key children, we all work together and build relationships with all of the children who attend. As a Key Person, you will take a particular interest in your key children’s development, completing observations and assessments, creating their individual learning journey and identifying appropriate next steps, while working closely with the wider team to support their learning and development.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing warm, nurturing and responsive care.

• Supporting children's learning and development through play and planned activities.

• Observing, assessing and recording children's progress.

• Supporting children's communication, confidence and independence.

• Creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued.

• Working closely with colleagues to provide a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment.

• Supporting children's daily routines, including snack, lunch, toileting and outdoor play.

• Following safeguarding, health and safety and setting policies and procedures.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification.

• Has a genuine passion for working with young children.

• Is warm, caring, patient and approachable.

• Is enthusiastic and enjoys getting involved in children's play.

• Is creative and able to provide fun and engaging experiences.

• Understands the importance of children's individual needs and development.

• Has good communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team.

• Is reliable, organised and committed to providing high-quality early years care and education.

• Is keen to contribute ideas and planning and become part of our small, supportive team.

Hunsdon Ducklings Pre-School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to provide appropriate references and complete the necessary DBS and barred list checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and shortlisted candidates will be asked to share any relevant criminal history prior to interview.
