About the role

We are looking for an excellent 0.4/0.6 class teacher who will work to inspire, excite and nurture our children and help them to achieve their full potential.

Welwyn St Mary’s Primary School are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, energetic and inspirational part time class teacher (2 or 3 days per week) to join our team and work with our SLT to ensure excellence at our school from September/October 2025. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers, who are able to make an outstanding impact on pupil progress.  This post is initially for a fixed period until July 2026, with the potential to convert to a permanent role after this time.

Responsibilities

As a class teacher, you will need to:

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons, following the school’s plans and curriculum
  • help children develop curiosity and knowledge
  • provide pastoral care and support to children within a secure learning environment.
  • assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils in your class
  • develop and produce visual aids and teaching resources
  • work with others, including teaching assistants, as well as volunteer helpers, to plan and coordinate work
  • share knowledge gained with others and build and maintain relationships with parents
  • ensure the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the setting
  • attend staff meetings and staff training
  • keep up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice.
  • make a positive contribution to the school’s vision and values.

Skills

You will have:

  • good organisational skills to plan the day and respond to the different needs of the children you teach

  • an understanding of the needs and feelings of children
