About the role

We are looking to appoint a Pastoral Support Officer to join the pastoral team at St. Francis` College. This vital role will provides support for students across the school from Prep to Senior. Working alongside teaching staff, parents and students you will play a key role in the continues pastoral support offered to all at St. Francis` College.

To apply for the role of Pastoral Support Officer, you don’t need to have experience of working within schools, but you will need the experience of working or caring for children, be empathetic to their needs and provide a safe and welcoming environment that supports their ability to learn. 

Our Pastoral Support Officer will work closely with the Pastoral Team of Form Tutors, Heads of Year, College Counsellor, School Nurses, Boarding House, and SLT to support our young people. This position will include being a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and will contribute to all aspects of students’ well-being and achievement.

The role will involve a mixture of dealing with parents, intervention groups, supporting home learning in addition to dealing with any attendance issues. This will involve writing Support Plans and intervening with difficulties around the school in terms of pastoral support

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable, supportive and proactive team player with a strong track record of working independently. You must demonstrate emotional resilience, be understanding and knowledgeable about child development. Most importantly you should have a passion for working with young people.

This role is ideal for graduates seeking a role in a school environment and would be particularly suited for those who have experience in pastoral care.
