Hourly Rate: £40.60 p/h plus 12.07% holiday pay

Rickmansworth School is seeking a dedicated and skilled Peripatetic Piano Teacher to join our Music Department. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality individual and small-group piano tuition, supporting students to develop their musical skills, confidence and enjoyment of music. The successful candidate will work closely with the Music Department to support students’ musical progress, including preparation for graded examinations and school performances. About the Music Department
The music department is highly regarded in the School. We have a set of rooms dedicated to music teaching, extra-curricular activities, and student practice.
At Rickmansworth School, 10% of our intake is selected based on musical aptitude, reflecting the strong emphasis we place on music education.
The Music Department consists of two full-time teachers, supported by a team of visiting peripatetic staff and a dedicated Performing Arts technician. The department is located in a purpose-built music block that was previously renovated and is extremely well-resourced.
Within the music block, there are two large, purpose-built classrooms equipped with extensive keyboard and percussion facilities, as well as interactive whiteboards to enhance the learning experience. Additionally, the department features a computer suite that includes Sibelius notation software, alongside a fully-equipped recording studio.
The department also boasts a wide array of musical resources, including various drum kits, electric pianos, upright pianos, a Steinway Grand piano, a full Samba set, West African Djembe and much more, all contributing to a rich and varied learning environment.

Selection Process:
We are required for only shortlisted candidates to conduct online searches about an applicant as part of our shortlisting process in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance 2026 in order to identify any incidents or concerns which are publicly available online. On signing the declaration on application you will be agreeing to the acknowledgement that such searches will be conducted as part of the shortlisting process.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the school where there will be a number of related tasks, details of which will be discussed on the day. Interviews will be held with the Headteacher and possibly another member of SLT. There will also be a tour of the school estate and this may be conducted by other members of the school community.
