We are seeking to appoint a PGCE Mentor to support the academic development of Ambition ITT trainees through the reading and checking of their PGCE assignments. This role is ideal for a reflective and academically minded teacher with an interest in Initial Teacher Training and mentoring trainee teachers.

The postholder will work in partnership with the Amition ITT team to review PGCE assignments four times across the academic year, ensuring quality and consistency in academic writing and alignment with programme expectations.

Essential:

    • UK Qualified Teacher status (QTS)
    • Current employed in a school within the Trust
    • Some understanding of PGCE programme requirements and structure
    • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to provide constructive, supportive feedback to trainees
    • Professionalism and confidentiality when handling trainee work
    • A natural aptitude to model the Trust’s core behaviours – ‘We display transparency, kindness and respect in all our interactions with others, and support each other in all our endeavours. We are tenacious in our desire to make the difference together’

    Desirable:

      • Understanding of Level 7 academic writing and assessment criteria
      • Experience in supporting or assessing case studies or reflective academic writing
      • Professionalism and confidentiality when handling trainee work
      • Familiarity with referencing systems and academic convention
      • A keen interest in the professional development of trainee teachers

      Additional information:

      • This is a non-teaching post (no timetable allowance), but it recognises the importance of academic mentoring with a TLR3 payment of £1500 for one year
      • The work will be spread across four reading points during the academic year, aligned with Ambition ITT assignment deadlines
