About the role
We are looking to recruit a Play worker to join our Busy Lizzies at Simon Balle setting, working at our Breakfast and After School provision. This is a term time only position and the working hours are 7.30am-9am and 3pm-6pm Monday to Friday 22.5 hours a week.
Job Summary: No experience necessary as full training will be given.
22.5 hours a week 25 days annual leave.
Actual pay £953.60 a month. Annual salary £11443.21
38 Weeks of the year, term time only.
Main Responsibilities:
- To help set up the room for the daily session and help tidy away at the end
- To complete, if required, the Daily Risk Assessment for indoor and outdoor areas, reporting any broken or faulty equipment/resources to the Manager/Deputy
- To work within the team and under direction of the Manager/Deputy to ensure a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment is created where children are able to enjoy themselves, grow in confidence and fulfil their potential
- To promote positive attitudes to diversity and difference within all children by making sure that all children and families feel included and that all children and adults are treated as individuals and listened to and respected
· To safeguard and promote the welfare of children attending Busy Lizzies (a knowledge of Safeguarding Children is mandatory for all staff – basic awareness training will be provided)
· To help promote a teamwork environment in conjunction with other staff, volunteers and students
- To understand your responsibilities within the setting's policies & procedures and work to them
- To attend staff meetings as deemed necessary by the Manager/Deputy
- To attend training courses and network meetings as deemed necessary by the Manager/Deputy (please note staff do not suffer financially for any training they are required to undertake – course fees and training hours will be paid in full, subject to funds being available)
- To support fundraising events as required
- To be responsible for keeping your staff handbook up-to-date
- To carry out any other duties associated with the role of Playworker, as may be reasonably required by the Manager/Deputy, some of which may need to take place outside session times
Person Specification
· Experience of working in a out of hours play scheme or early years setting
· Be suitable, both mentally and physically, to care for children
· Ability to communicate and maintain friendly relationships with children, parents/carers and staff
· Ability to work on own initiative and cope with a busy setting, seeking guidance when necessary
· Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
· Ability to work in a professional manner at all times
