About the role

About the role:

In choosing to become a part of our Governing Board, you will be making a commitment to the children of Parkside to enable them to realise and achieve their potential through the experiences we provide at our school. As a governing body, we work together as a team alongside the school’s Headteacher and leaders, utilising our range of skills and expertise to support the school reaching the best possible outcomes.

We are seeking interested individuals who are able to give approximately 8 hours of voluntary time per term to challenging and supporting the school in realising its mission whilst remaining financially stable and providing consistent safe and high-quality education to all children at the school, regardless of background and circumstances.

Governance at Parkside requires virtual and in-person attendance at our meetings, and termly visits to the school. Some of this time commitment will be during school operating hours, but meetings are usually in the evenings. We have a strong governance induction programme and offer extended learning and development opportunities.

We want governors who are:

  • Committed to fulfilling the role to the best of their ability,
  • Kind as we work with some of the most vulnerable families in the county,
  • Curious and confident to ask challenging questions to ensure good decisions are
  • made at the school,
  • Passionate about enhancing opportunities for children and creating safe, secure
  • learning environments, and
  • Strategic and able to consider the long-term impact of decisions made.
  • All governors require references and a DBS check (which can be arranged by the
  • school).
  • Becoming a school governor, particularly at Parkside, is a fantastic opportunity to
  • develop both personally and professionally whilst making a real difference in the
  • lives of young children and their families.

About the school:

Our goal is to raise achievement for each and every one of our children through our school vision statement: Nurturing and inspiring young minds towards a brighter future.
