SEN Learning Support Practitioner

Are you an experienced SEN Learning Support Practitioner looking for a role where your expertise will truly make a difference? At Northgate School, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive. We're looking for a passionate, skilled and highly motivated practitioner to join our dedicated SEN team and play a key role in supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, our SENDCo, specialist staff and external professionals to deliver exceptional support for children with a range of additional needs. About the role

  • 34.5 hours per week

    • Monday to Thursday: 8.30am–4.00pm

    • Friday: 8.30am–3.30pm

  • Term time only

  • Fixed-term until July 2027, subject to continued funding. The contract may end earlier should the supported pupil(s) leave the school.

What we're looking for

The successful candidate will:

  • Have proven experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining high expectations.

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENDCo, the wider SEN team and external agencies, whilst also being confident to work independently when required.

  • Be able to implement specialist strategies and professional advice consistently.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Show initiative, flexibility and a willingness to continually develop their knowledge and practice.

  • Be passionate about inclusion and committed to helping every child succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

Salary

Salary will be paid on the National Joint Council Pay Scale H4 (pro rata), dependent on experience.

Essential qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

  • A high standard of spoken and written English.
