About the team

Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work; information, advice, and careers guidance; work related learning and work experience; post-16 Education, Health, and Care Plan review services for young people in Hertfordshire.  The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention / early help agenda including Hertfordshire County Council’s aim of supporting young people to make a successful transition to an economically independent adult life.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible SfYP Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) Senior Support Officer/Annual Review Officer to work with our Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere Team.  You will provide practical support to a team involved with the review of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for young people aged 16+ in further education.

You’ll be:

  • Receiving, recording, and checking all reports immediately on receipt, communicating with a range of professionals to seek outstanding information indicated within the annual review
  •  Amending/changing/issuing ECHPs as required
  • Working collaboratively with professionals across education, health, and care services to ensure effective case management, integrated working practice and successful outcomes for young people
  • Inputting and maintaining accurate and comprehensive database records as required and participating in the Local Authority’s systems for monitoring and quality assurance for young people known to the service
  • Contributing to the development of policy, procedures, and provision for young people with SEND, which includes maintaining up to date knowledge relating to SEN casework, changes to national legislation and departmental policies, and supporting induction/training and support to all team members
  • Undertaking general administrative duties as required

About you

  • Experience of working in a previous administrative or support role
  • Organisational and multitasking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a range of audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Experience in working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of specialised processes and methods gained through relevant training and experience.
  • Ability to plan own work over short timescales for routine or familiar tasks and processes and use your initiative to work independently.
  • GCSE or Vocational equivalent, strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • Enthusiasm and pride in your work are qualities we welcome.
  • You will be used to working to tight deadlines and with high accuracy in written correspondence.
  • Experience in minute or note taking
