About the role

This newly created role offers a superb opportunity to become an essential member of our established Curriculum Support team. You will work alongside the SENCO/SEND Lead teachers to identify and provide targeted support to both SEND and other identified students who need short, medium and long-term assistance to enhance their learning and additional needs. This support will be delivered on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

The responsibilities of the position will include building strong partnerships with parents/carers and external agencies to meet the needs of SEND students. You will assist with the development of structured interventions and associated documentation. Additionally, you will contribute to and attend EHCP review meetings.

Students present with a wide range of special educational needs, medical conditions and physical disabilities, including visual and hearing impairments, autism, specific and general learning difficulties.

The ideal working hours are 08:25 to 15:20; however, some flexibility may be available. It would be helpful to note preferred working patterns on the application form to be discussed at the interview.

We are looking for someone who:

  • ideally, has experience of and is familiar with the KS2 curriculum and teaching methodologies

  • is confident in employing strategies for supporting learning and behaviour management for students with SEND

  • is proficient in the use of ICT, particularly in using ICT to enhance learning

  • has outstanding numeracy and literacy (written and verbal) skills

  • enjoys working with young people of secondary school age and demonstrates a calm and steady manner
