About the role
Could you be our Kimpton Hero?
Ensuring our school is a safe and welcoming work environment for colleagues and a place for children to enjoy their learning is a team effort. We are seeking to appoint a reliable, friendly and hardworking person to help take care of our lovely school and grounds; someone who will look after all the small but important things that make everyone’s day better.
This is a part time role for 6 hours per week during term time, with some additional days during school holidays.
There is some flexibility over the working pattern – for example, you could work one full day a week or spread the hours over two or three days. Two sessions of three hours would probably be our preference so that we have someone on site more regularly. The only stipulation is that some of the hours must be at the start or end of the school day (before 7.30pm or after 5pm), so that tasks like the weekly fire alarm test can take place without disrupting the children’s day.
The job involves a range of duties, all of which are critical to the smooth running of the school, and include general porterage, cleaning, and health and safety compliance checks. We also need someone with the knowledge and skills to carry out basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, and general DIY repair and maintenance work. Please see the job description for further details.
The successful candidate will be someone who:
- is good-humoured and has a ‘can do’ attitude;
- has a commonsense approach and can work alone using own initiative;
- is flexible, to adapt to the changing needs of the school;
- will take pride in our school, pay attention to detail, and be committed to making sure our working and learning environment is safe, clean and welcoming;
- is able to maintain good working relationships with all school staff and visitors.
This is a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference and you will be warmly appreciated as a key member of Team Kimpton.
We welcome, and would strongly encourage, visits from prospective candidates – please contact the school office to make an appointment
Kimpton Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
