About the role

Mount Grace School is seeking a Teacher of Humanities!

Are you passionate about cultivating a deep appreciation for history and geography in the hearts of young learners? Mount Grace School is on the lookout for a dedicated Teacher of Humanities to become an integral part of our team!

About Mount Grace:

Mount Grace is a traditional, mixed comprehensive school occupying 20 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. We are a rapidly improving, truly inclusive school with approximately 600 students including over 100 in the Sixth Form. We have a genuine partnership with local people and we are the community school of Potters Bar and the surrounding villages. Every student is offered a varied, personalised curriculum and will be challenged to achieve their full potential.

History Vision Statement

The History Curriculum is designed to provide students with the historical knowledge and understanding that enables them to confidently formulate their own views and critically evaluate the world around them. Students will develop an understanding of events in their proper context, looking at the causes and consequences as well as the longer-term legacy. They will understand that no person or event exists in a vacuum and be able to explore the connections between people, ideas, locations and time. Students will understand that History is an interpretation of the past and be able to view the past from different perspectives with an open and enquiring mind.

Geography Vision Statement

Students at Mount Grace follow a varied Geography curriculum, covering a range of physical and human topics throughout the years. Students cover interesting content at a range of scales from local, for example in Map Skills, national, for example when looking at our coastline and global includes looking at migration and the tropical rainforest.

Our curriculum provides opportunities for learning skills transferable to other subjects and to develop pupils’ curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, which will remain with them throughout their lives.
