An opportunity has arisen for a talented and passionate Teacher of Physics to join the Physics Department at Haileybury. This role is suitable for either an Early Career Teacher (ECT) seeking a supportive and dynamic environment for their first position or an experienced educator looking for a new challenge in an academically stimulating setting.

At Haileybury, it is our ambition to provide our pupils with the very best facilities for all aspects of their education. We are delighted that our pupils’ science and technology lessons take place in our new, innovative SciTech building which provides the space and opportunity for Haileybury to not only teach science to its pupils but also allow them to become scientists. 

Physics is offered as GCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Beyond the curriculum, the Physics Department is leading the School’s CubeSat initiative as we aim to be the first school in Europe to launch a satellite into orbit. In addition, the Physics Department invites speakers to Haileybury and takes pupils to local lectures and events and pupils are encouraged to enter a range of Physics Olympiad competitions. The Physics Society is run by pupils and meets weekly. 

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level within a relevant subject. Previous experience of teaching the subject at GCSE, A Level and/or IB is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate will employ a variety of teaching methods to engage and inspire pupils, confidently integrate digital tools into their teaching and encourage independent thinking while challenging students beyond the curriculum.
