About the role
Are you passionate about inclusion and early intervention? Do you want to make a meaningful difference for young children with complex special educational needs?
Swallow Dell Primary & Nursery School is seeking to appoint a committed and nurturing Teaching Assistant to work within our Internal Alternative Provision (IAP). This provision supports children from Reception to Year 2 who present with complex special educational needs and who require a highly personalised, therapeutic approach to learning.
The Internal Alternative Provision is an integral part of Swallow Dell’s inclusive offer and provides a small, structured and supportive environment where children can engage, regulate and succeed.
You will work closely with the IAP Lead, class teachers, SENCO, inclusion team and senior leaders to support children both within the provision and, where appropriate, through carefully planned reintegration into their mainstream classrooms.
The role will involve a combination of small-group and 1:1 support, helping children to access learning, develop communication and self-regulation skills, and build positive relationships.
The role is full time with hours from 8:40 - 3:15 daily. The IAP closes at 1:15 on a Friday to allow for planning time and training for all involved staff.
Inclusion is of the highest importance at Swallow Dell, and the IAP plays a key role in ensuring that all children feel safe, valued and able to thrive.
This role would be ideal for:
Teaching Assistants with a strong interest in SEND, early years and inclusion
