About the role

Are you the right person to join the Cranborne team? We are looking to recruit an exceptional Support Assistant to join our team for Autumn 2026.  The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting children to achieve their very best.  We are a friendly and welcoming school with a great atmosphere and excellent achievements. Experience is desirable but not essential - some of our best staff started here with no experience at all! It's the right people that matter; people who have a love, care and passion for children. We are, however, looking for candidates who are proficient in both English and Maths.  The role will be class based and could include 1:1 support for children with special educational needs, small group support, cover supervision and whole class support from 8:40am to 12:45pm (or 3:15pm) Monday to Friday.  This is a fixed term post initially with the prospect of an extended contract for the right candidate.  We offer fantastic professional development as well as both career and pay progression. Please do visit our school for a tour and meet our friendly staff and wonderful children. We also have a virtual tour on our website. We encourage all candidates to apply as soon as possible as we reserve the right to close the application process early for the right candidate.  As holders of the Armed Forces Recognition Scheme Silver Award, we actively encourage applications from ex-regular members of the Armed Forces, or those currently serving with the Reserve Forces.  Cranborne Primary School are committed to the safeguarding of our children so all offers of employment will be dependent on an enhanced DBS check.

Our school is a place of fun, laughter, learning and a willingness to succeed; to be the very best we can be. We recognise that children are uniquely different - all possessing different skills and abilities. At Cranborne, we nurture the talents of individuals and celebrate their efforts and achievements. Children are happy here. They feel safe, secure and able to express themselves. There is an exciting and energetic atmosphere at our school - it is a place full of positivity and opportunity. Staff thrive on the challenge of creating the highest standards of learning and children engage willingly, eager to learn more. We understand the importance of staff well-being and offer an excellent package of support from a reduction in workload to staff quiz nights run by our dedicated well-being team. The leadership team also invests heavily in CPD and support all staff who wish to further their career. It is our view that education is the key to a successful future. With this in mind, we have very high expectations. We strive to achieve academic excellence and create an environment where young minds can flourish.
