About the role

Are you looking to make a real difference to a school community?  Do you believe that you can support children to achieve their full potential?  Would you like to be part of a fantastic team who are committed to providing the best education for children?

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to join a fantastic school community! We are looking to appoint a committed Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated teaching team from September 2026. The position involves supporting pupils within the classroom and across the wider school from 8.45am to 3.15pm each day. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to supervise whole classes on occasion, during the short-term absence of a teacher.

The applicant we are seeking will have experience in working with children in a primary school setting (or similar) and will preferably have experience in delivering a range of intervention strategies. They will especially be required to support children with reading, writing and maths so must be confident when working with all levels of competency in children.  The role also includes supporting pupils during lunchtime as a Midday Supervisory Assistant, alongside Teaching Assistant responsibilities. There is also the opportunity to take on additional hours within our wraparound care provision (8am–5pm), and we would particularly welcome applications from candidates who are happy to contribute more widely to school life in this way.

In return, we can offer the right candidate: extremely well behaved pupils who enjoy learning; a nurturing school that has a learning-centered approach; well-resourced classrooms; friendly and committed staff who display a genuine love for learning; opportunities for professional development; and very supportive parents and governors.

At Gade Valley the health, safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. We expect all staff, governors and volunteers to share this commitment to safeguarding our pupils.  The successful candidate will be subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance, acceptable online search and satisfactory references. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.  Please note, references will be taken up before interview.

We are determined to make a successful appointment for this post.  As such, the SLT and the Governors reserve the right to conduct interviews before the closing date. We therefore encourage all interested candidates to apply at their earliest convenience.
