About the role

Trainee Deputy Manager – Early Years

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Trainee Deputy Manager to join our friendly, high-quality day nursery and pre-school team. This developmental leadership role is ideal for an experienced Room Leader or Senior Early Years Practitioner who is ready to take the next step into management.

The successful candidate will complete a structured 6-month training and development programme, gaining hands-on experience across all areas of day nursery leadership and management. This includes safeguarding, EYFS curriculum leadership, staff support and mentoring, session and operational management, administration, and working in partnership with parents and external professionals. You will also have the opportunity to work towards completing a Early Years Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management, supporting your career progression in Early Years.

Working closely with the Nursery Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the setting while continuing to deliver outstanding care and learning for children. You will receive ongoing mentoring, regular reviews, and clear progression opportunities, with the potential to progress into a Deputy Manager role upon successful completion of the training period.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Is currently a Room Leader or an experienced Senior Early Years Educator

  • Holds a Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) and is motivated to complete a Level 5 Early Years Leadership and Management qualification

  • Has strong EYFS knowledge and experience with children 9 m – 5 yrs

  • Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion and high-quality practice

  • Has leadership potential and a desire to progress into management

  • Communicates confidently and professionally with children, families and colleagues
