About the role

Monk’s Walk is a high performing, oversubscribed secondary school with a strong commitment to literacy and learning. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteer readers to support our Year 7 and 8 students in developing their reading skills, fluency, confidence, and love of literature.

As a volunteer, you’ll spend one day a week (up to 5 hours) working in our welcoming school library, offering one-to-one or small group reading support. Your time will make a real impact, helping to unlock potential, boost motivation, and foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

Whether you're a parent, retired teacher, student, or simply passionate about literacy, we’d love to hear from you.

Join us and be part of something meaningful.

If you are interested, or would like further information, please contact Adam Lancaster, Literacy Coordinator at ALancaster@monkswalk.herts.sch.uk.

Monk’s Walk School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of our safeguarding commitments, we will need to obtain two references and an enhanced DBS check for all volunteers.
