KS1 Class Teacher – Mixed Year 1/2

Puller Memorial C of E VA Primary School

Are you a passionate KS1 teacher who brings learning to life, champions every child and believes that relationships are at the heart of great teaching?

At Puller Memorial, we are looking for a fun-loving, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to lead our delightful mixed Year 1/2 class. We want someone who loves working with young children, embraces their individuality and is committed to helping every child feel safe, valued, included and inspired to learn.

We are a small village school with a big heart, but please don't mistake small for simple! Our children deserve an ambitious, creative and inclusive education, and we are looking for a teacher who is excited by the challenge of making that happen. Teaching a mixed-age KS1 class requires flexibility, thoughtful planning, a strong understanding of child development and the ability to adapt learning so that every pupil can thrive.

The teacher we're looking for

We want someone who brings warmth, humour, energy and a genuine love of KS1. Someone who can make children laugh, spark their curiosity, celebrate their achievements and help them overcome the challenges they face.

You will:

  • Love teaching young children and understand how to make learning engaging, purposeful and memorable during these crucial early years of education.

  • Champion inclusion and neurodiversity, recognising that children experience, communicate with and learn about the world in different ways.

  • Understand and value Therapeutic Thinking, using positive relationships, emotional regulation, empathy and an understanding of behaviour to help children feel secure and ready to learn.

  • Have the knowledge and confidence to support children with SEND, adapting your teaching and environment to meet individual needs and enable every child to succeed.

  • Be reflective, resourceful and adaptable, able to balance the needs of a mixed Year 1/2 class while maintaining high expectations for all.

  • Work brilliantly with others, valuing the expertise of teaching assistants and 1:1 support staff and seeing them as essential partners in children's learning and development.

  • Bring positivity, resilience and a sense of humour, understanding that teaching is rewarding, sometimes challenging, and always about the children.

  • Be ambitious for every pupil, combining nurturing relationships with excellent teaching and a determination to help children make meaningful progress.

Above all, we want someone who sees the child first, looks beyond labels and behaviour, and is committed to understanding what each child needs to flourish.

What makes Puller Memorial special?

We offer the opportunity to be part of a close-knit school community where relationships matter, colleagues support one another and every member of staff can make a genuine difference.

You can look forward to:

  • A welcoming, caring and supportive team that works together for the benefit of every child.

  • Small classes where you can really get to know your pupils and build strong, trusting relationships.

  • Dedicated teaching assistants and 1:1 support staff who work alongside teachers to support children's learning and wellbeing.

  • Schemes of work to support planning

  • A music specialist to work with your class

  • Forest school and outdoors learning

  • Opportunities to share ideas, develop your practice and work collaboratively with experienced colleagues.

  • Access to high-quality professional development, including National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).

  • The opportunity to shape learning, contribute ideas and play an important part in the continued development of our school.

Following our recent Ofsted inspection, we are proud of the strengths recognised within our school and are excited about the next stage of our journey. We are looking for a teacher who will help us build on this foundation, bringing fresh ideas, professional curiosity and a shared commitment to ensuring every child receives the education they deserve.

Is this the right role for you?

If you believe that great teaching is about far more than delivering lessons; if you understand that inclusion takes thought, skill, patience and determination; and if you want to help young children develop academically, socially and emotionally, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for a teacher who will embrace the challenges, celebrate the successes and bring out the very best in every child.

If that sounds like you, Puller Memorial could be the school for you.
